For every 1,000 miles you ride a bicycle instead of drive a car, you prevent almost 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. Plus, you save about 50 gallons of gas.

If you have a problem with ground level ozone in your city in the summer, you can help improve the air by riding a bicycle instead of driving your car.

For historical reasons, Saudi Arabia rulers support financially an extreme form of Islam called Wahhabism. The Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia believe Islam should be returned to an austere form practiced in the time of the Prophet Muhammad, a form hostile to modernity, science, "infidels" and women's rights.

By enriching Saudi treasuries via our gasoline purchases, we are financing the export of Saudi puritanical brand of Sunni Islam, which supports the Sunni insurgents in Iraq. As  former C.I.A Director James Woolsey says, "We are funding the rope for the hanging of ourselves."
